Last weekend’s Cholmondeley Pageant of Power was “opened” by thewesterngroup.

The annual speed-fest near Nantwich, Cheshire was bathed in sunshine and packed with cars and bikes from the earliest days of motoring right up to the present day as well as displays on the lake and in the air on the rolling Cheshire estate and it attracted tens of thousands of spectators.

As long established major sponsor of the event, Ford took the opportunity this year to demonstrate the power of their latest 1.0 EcoBoost engine fitted in the Fiesta and our vice-chairman Robin Roberts was the first to drive around the 1.2 miles sprint course through the parkland.

It combines long straights with tight 90-degree corners and some chicanes and stone-walled humped bridges for good measure.

After a brisk and fortunately uneventful run in the red Fiesta, Robin said, “It was my first time at the event and bathed in warm sunshine with excellent marshalling and organisation it is a surprisingly demanding yet enjoyable course.

“With so much fascinating machinery assembled to suit all tastes it is a true feast for the fans, unlike my driving, but the well presented Fiesta did put in a brisk lap without any issue despite being three up and with me behind the wheel.”
