The annual Western Group of Motoring Writers PR Driving Day is scheduled for 3 June 2020.

This internationally unique event was given the go-ahead by members of the 36-years-old group when attending their ordinary and annual general meeting hosted by Mitsubishi Motors UK at the Watermoor headquarters, Cirencester.

Thewesterngroup’s DD2020 committee has started contacting motor manufacturers to mark 3 June 2020 in their diaries and encourage as many as possible to attend Castle Combe Circuit, traditional home of the event since the mid-1980s.

Blending on-track and local roads driving with networking opportunities and discussing issues with working motoring journalists in the West Country and South Wales, the event will once again be administered on-line by specialist motoring events agency IDPR Ltd..

Once again, motor manufacturers will be able to cut their costs of attending DD2020 by registering and paying their entry fee before the end of February 2020. The dedicated DD2020 website address is: wgdrivingday.com  and it will be updated as the event nears.

Before the annual general meeting, members held their winter social event at The Crown of Crucis, Ampney Crucis, Cirencester and were joined by Mitsubishi Motors UK General Manager Internal Communications and Government Affairs, Conor Twomey and Group Friend Denis Chick, formerly Director of Public Affairs Vauxhall Motors.

At the following day’s annual general meeting, the group members re-elected their committee of Chairman Robin Roberts; Vice-chairman Kieron Fennelly; Honorary Secretary Steve Grant and Honorary Treasurer John Kerswill.

Afterwards, Robin Roberts thanked Mitsubishi Motors UK for their hospitality and the group members’ support, saying, “I am humbled by re-election to lead thewesterngroup for another year and grateful for the committee and members’ support.

“I have held senior posts on the committee for longer than any other member in its 36 years history and while we are facing rising challenges both as journalists and the industry at large, the group is still attracting new member applications and new models are rolling into showrooms.

“This shows regional motoring journalism is thriving even if the way coverage is delivered continually diversifies and the manufacturers are also coming up with solutions to society’s needs.”
