Women On the Move Against Cancer’s (WOMAC) annual February party is a firm fixture in the automotive calendar and very well supported by the industry, but unfortunately February 2021 will be the first year in more than 40 years that WOMAC won’t be holding its annual party, due to the ongoing pandemic and restrictions.

That said, the fundraising won’t stop, because cancer isn’t stopping for anyone or anything. WOMAC will continue its money raising initiatives in a variety of ways including a series of ‘WOMAC Weeks’, encouraging people to take on challenges and fun activities, all with the mission to raise as much money as possible for WOMAC’s 2021 charity, brainstrust.

The national charity supports patients, caregivers and families facing a life-limiting brain tumour diagnosis, through offering practical advice and emotional support to improve their mental well-being. All of this is done through brainstrust’s coaching, counselling, events and NHS-accredited resources, thus making people affected by a brain tumour feel part of a community, more supported and more engaged with clinical care. Regular meet-ups across the country have been adapted to online forums in order for brainstrust to continue supporting its community in COVID-19 times too.

Georgia Fox, Chair of WOMAC, said, “It is a real shame our February party can’t go ahead this year, but we are more determined than ever to raise as much money as possible, and who knows, maybe 2021 is the year for a summer party!

“Over the years WOMAC has raised more than a million pounds for 60 different charities and organisations, all with the aim of supporting those with cancer. Donating vital funds and seeing the money genuinely help those suffering makes me very proud of all that we do here at WOMAC, an organisation made up of more than 50 volunteers.”

The Western Group of Motoring Writers donated £450 to WOMAC at its PR Driving Day in the summer of 2019 and has always supported the national charity alongside local good causes in the West Country and South Wales, sharing the limelight in 2019 with children’s hospice Ty Hafen, near Barry.

More details of ‘WOMAC Weeks’ will be released across its social channels in the coming weeks. Stay tuned
