How far can you go on a driving day?

Well, Kia and thewesterngroup members found it to be a bit longer than you might think.

At our traditional Kia driving day before thewesterngroup PR day there were 52 drives adding up to 919 miles.

That’s equivalent to going from Milan to Copenhagen, or 71 laps of the Nurburgring or possibly more appropriately, 497 laps of Castle Combe, the venue for #DD2018 on 6 June.

Kia brought a good representative sample of their current products and the most popular cars driven on the day at Calcot Manor, Tetbury were the Kia Soul EV and Stonic with diesel and petrol Stingers the next.

The sun had barely risen when Matt Kimberley turned up to drive and it was close to setting when honorary member Alyson Marlow graced with her attendance after the roads had been swept for her arrival.

Maintaining tradition, but on the correct day for once, Roy Lewis just scraped into the qualifying time for drives and returned a Kia Rio with 4m 12sec to go before the testing concluded.

Before dinner, Kia UK Corporate Communications Director Steve Kitson, said the company always enjoyed bringing their cars to thewesterngroup because they put them through their paces on roads they know very well and generated a lot of copy in following days and weeks.

Joint vice-chairman Robin Roberts thanked Steve and his team for the driving day and their hospitality and said members did appreciate the effort they had gone to and was encouraged by the statistics compiled by PR manager Dan Sayles.
