Kim Henson and the charms of The Voice

WGMW member Kim Henson is proud of keeping his stable of cars in tune, but at the weekend had cause to smile over another tune, that sung by his son in The Voice.

Ant Henson, Kim and Elaine’s 24-year-old son, was seen on the hit-tv talent show when he reached the final 120 performers from 30,000 contestants.

The song for 'The Voice' was 'All These Things That I Have Done', by the American group, The Killers.

The robotics student who loves music and follows in his dad’s tyre-tracks and runs an Austin A30 kept in 60s-retro style, failed to make a judge spin on Saturday’s  programme.

But it was a whirlwind experience for him, Kim and Elaine, who went to the Manchester auditions before Christmas and endured atrocious weather on the way there and back.

Kim was as philosophical as ever afterwards and said, “Anthony lives and breathes music, cars, drama productions and robotics, having achieved his degree in robotics at Reading University, in 2011.

“He is determined to make a career out of his singing and playing and moved to London in November, in pursuance of this goal.”

Kim added, Anthony studied classical acoustic guitar at primary and junior schools working through the exam grades, moved on to electric guitar from the age of 12 and formed a group with three other friends when at Poole Grammar School.

On leaving school he has concentrated on solo performances, usually to the accompaniment of his 12 string acoustic guitar and, at times, his harmonicas.

Kim said, “Far from being downhearted, he thoroughly enjoyed the experience and met many interesting people, including the other contestants. He also benefited from some voice coaching as a result of taking part.

“Needless to say we are proud of the lad and wish him well in his musical endeavours. The good news about the trip to Manchester for the filming was that we met Holly Willoughby, who was a charming lady!”

We are sure every Western Group member and friend of the group wishes Anthony well for his musical future.
