WGMW take a shine to the National Star College

publication date: Dec 19, 2013

The Western Group of Motoring Writers has donated £500 to the National Star College, Cheltenham.

John Kendall, Chairman of the Western Group of Motoring Writers, presented a cheque to the charity at the Cotswold Water Park Four Pillars Hotel in Gloucestershire, as long-time charity supporter Mitsubishi Motors UK launched their new model line-up of the ASX crossover.

The National Star College, a charity supported by Mitsubishi, works to enable people with disabilities to realise their potential through personalised learning, transition and lifestyle services.

The Western Group of Motoring Writers chose to donate the £500 after learning about the charity from members of staff at Mitsubishi, who regularly sponsor the group’s AGM.

John Kendall said: “In the 30th  anniversary year of the Western Group of Motoring Writers it’s great to be able to support the work of the National Star College, a cause which is in the heart of our area.”

The National Star College in Ullenwood, Cheltenham, has been the chosen charity of Mitsubishi Motors UK since 2009.

Kate Green, Director of Fundraising at the National Star College, said, “Donations like this are incredibly important to us and we’d like to thank the Western Group of Motoring Writers.

“This money will help us make a difference to the lives of young people with disabilities. The support that we have had from Mitsubishi has been hugely beneficial, both in terms of fundraising and in terms of borrowing vehicles.”

Toby Marshall, Sales and Marketing Director at Mitsubishi Motors UK, added, “We have been supporting the National Star College for four years now and we have a really good relationship with them. It’s a fascinating place to visit and they do such good work. Our staff understand that it is our chosen charity and they always want to get involved to help so it’s a great way of everybody working together for one goal.”

The National Star College is now appealing for people to donate stock as they plan for the launch of their first charity shop, in Cheltenham High Street, early next year. Good quality items can be delivered to the college in Ullenwood. To find out more about the National Star College go to their website through this link
