Chairman WGMW

I suppose it would have been asking too much for the weather to at least make an attempt at being seasonal for Suzuki’s weekend at Bishopstrow House.

It was grey skies that greeted a large contingent from the Group to drive the 14 cars that Alun Parry and his Suzuki colleagues had waiting for us.

Last minute cancellations aside, the Smale’s with colds and the Hackers with an invalided nanny, there was good turn out with Liz and Richard Turner (right) making their first appearance at a partners weekend.

Two driving routes, including a quick dash across Salisbury Plain and past the wooden, as opposed to Stone, henge, provided plenty of opportunity for guests to sample Suzuki’s current range.

A firm favourite with all was the limited edition Swift Sport SZ-R; with its high revving engine and sure footed steering and handling it’s the equal of, and better than many, hot hatches on the market today.

Highlights of the evening were a fiendish quiz compiled by Alun’s daughter, Ellen, and her friend Abigail Groves, both 13, that defeated most of the members.

Not much serious talking here
Eventual winners were the cappuccino table of Jade Wells and her partner, Scott, Leigh and Lisbeth, Alyson and Innes.

Alun then surprised everyone by presenting the Group with a cake to celebrate our 30th anniversary.

Sunday’s weather hardly improved, but that didn’t deter members from putting more cars through their paces before lunch and heading back home.
