Journalists and photographers often get asked to do the oddest of things but for the husband of WGMW member Alyson Marlow, it was definitely out of the box…..

It’s a really simple job they said…

The next thing I know I’m dressed as Colonel Sanders – make-up, wig, in a full white Tux, attempting to pilot a Lincoln Continental down a narrow street in Peckham, without removing the extra metre of camera rig attached to the passenger door!

This two-night shoot also used old Kent Road as the setting for Chicken Town, the latest lavish Pulse Films’ production for the current KFC Chicken Town television campaign.

Other than the width, my biggest issue with the car was a lack of functioning interior light, an overheating problem halfway up Peckham high street, and some odd behaviour from the electric windows.

Despite the claim in the ad that there is only one Colonel in Chicken Town, there are two –  a proper actor did cooking, and the looking-into-mirrors scenes. But when it came to the moody driving shots on the freshly-watered mean streets of south London, call me The Colonel !

And my fingers did play a bit part.
