Freelance Liz Turner is the new secretary of the Western Group of Motoring Writers.

She takes over from photographer and archivist Glen Smale, who stepped down, following the group’s annual general meeting at the headquarters of Mitsubishi Motors UK in Cirencester.

There were no other changes to the group’s committee and the chairman continues to be John Kendall, with Robin Roberts supporting him as vice-chairman and Ross Durkin as treasurer.

The group has decided to support six charities and given the go-ahead for the annual driving day in 2015, with more details to follow.

The ordinary meeting of the group held immediately before the AGM, approved a membership application from Plymouth writer Steve Grant.

The group’s Christmas dinner for members will be at Holbroke House hotel early December.
